Welcome to Cupid's Domain!

A Fanshrine dedicated to LOVE BULLET, a manga series created by inee. Circa 2025

Introduction

Hello, and welcome to Cupid's Domain! This is a fanshrine dedicated to the manga series LOVE BULLET, which focuses on the exploits of the cupid Koharu and a group of her fellow cupids, as they attempt to matchmake. Not only is the premise unique – cupids in 21st century Japan welding firearms instead of traditional bow and arrows! – but there's a significant focus on sapphic relationships, both platonic and romantic. The series has been ongoing since 2023, with full serialization beginning in 2024.

This site is intended to be informative about the LOVE BULLET series in general, along with a collection of personal essays contributed by the webmaker. If you're looking for ways to support the manga and inee, see the links compiled here by twitter/X user @LoveBulletManga. For a not-so-opinionated take on the series, see the LOVE BULLET Wiki. What's a fanshrine, you may ask? Here's a good definition from the Emotion fanshrine directory. I hope you enjoy your time browsing this site!

What is Love Bullet about?

Koharu, a Japanese high school student, is renowned for her matchmaking skills. One day, her best friend confesses to her, and before Koharu can respond, she dies in a freak accident. Suddenly waking up from her death, she's found herself turned into a cupid — those who died without falling in love, and were turned into angel-like beings by the Goddess of Love. Assisted by a fellow cupid named Kanna, Koharu learns that the life of a cupid isn't just to matchmake, but competing with her fellow cupids through the possibility of returning to life once they've accumulated enough "karma" through successful matchmaking. Yes, it's just as crazy and fun as it sounds. And if you're reading this and haven't read the manga yet, what are you waiting for?

Characters

Koharu, the protagonist, and the character through which we learn about Love Bullet's world. She was once an ordinary girl, but after her death she was incarnated into a cupid. She's depicted (and described) as having a kind, gentle personality, though not a timid one.

a mangacap showing the character kanna resting her chin on her hands

Kanna, the deuteragonist. She is Koharu's mentor. She's depicted as calm, relaxed, probably about to doze off on the job - but make no mistake, she's not airheaded, because her temperment suits her competence.

a mangacap of chiyo

Chiyo, a tritagonist alongside her fellow cupid Ena. She serves as the group's wild card, often starting conflicts between the members and causing numerous conflicts by herself. She's implied to be one of the oldest cupids of the group, despite her mischevious personality.

a mangacap of ena crossing her arms

Ena, a tritagonist alongside her fellow cupid Chiyo. She has a mysterious past that seems to involve another cupid, the extent of their relationship currently remaining unclear. Her character arc is the current focus as of chapter 9. Her personality could be described as an intense, analytical one.

Essays: Matchmaking, and the question of gender/sexuality

This is currently a WIP section, and will be drafted out after further research. It will concern the question of matchmaking in LOVE BULLET, and how it relates to how the series tackles gender/sexuality issues, mostly notably in the case of the numerous sapphic characters. There will be a prominent focus on aro/ace topics, revolving around the concept of the cupids themselves in the LOVE BULLET world/mythmaking. As a heads up: there will also be discussions of violence in the context of the story itself; such as how the cupids utilize modern firearms to matchmake, and the violent seperation and death of Koharu. Due to the nature of this topic, there might be academic language used throughout; I have attempted to define/clarify them and provide citations whenever possible. If there's any questions, especially regarding the language and terminology used, I might provide a public comment/forum section where I can respond (mainly to help others with similar questions; though in the case where someone wishes to have their questions responded to privately, I will honor that request - though please don't send extremely personal/sensitive questions regarding topics I have written about here, it's not the right place for that).

Essay: The Social Phenomenon of LOVE BULLET (and other algorithmic proceedings)

This is a purely selfish topic since I find exploring sociological questions, especially in the context of small/indie media which, through coordinated efforts of numerous people, seemingly becomes a success via social media overnight, highly fascinating.

Essay: In Relation to the "Ghost of You" shrine challenge...

This is probably the most casual (and most finished) essay on this site lol. It's just a quick explanation of three things: why I chose LOVE BULLET for this challenge, a quick history of this shrine + what I was originally considering for the challenge topic (perhaps I will start working on it someday), and brief comments of future plans for this shrine.

Why LOVE BULLET?

...and how does it relate to the challenge? Of course, the protagonist Koharu's death literally haunts the narrative - and so do the presence of the other cupid characters. I found LOVE BULLET through mangadex (not gonna hide it) way back in 2023, and I distinctly remember trying to see if it had a MAL entry yet (it didn't) + really liking the artstyle and cupid theme. I later found inee's etsy fanmerch when I was looking for uma musume fangoods on the site, and recognized the artist (i bought a twin turbo keychain). When it became popular starting in late 2024 (I recall first noticing a popularity spike during the fall 0f 2024 in connection with messages by the Sancho Step scanlation group of the manga potentially being cancelled due to low volume sales), I was genuinely surprised by how much people rallied to save the manga from being cancelled! Just goes to show the power of community 😌 Though back then, I was taking a social media hiatus, so I wasn't really yelling about the manga, but I hope with building this site, it will get even more people interested in the manga, and supporting the mangaka.

Site History Overview

When I first heard about this challenge (way back in late September 2025 and I believe through a link shared on the ficwip discord server), I was originally considering making a fanshrine for the anime "A Place Further Than This Universe," which is one of my absolute favorite animated shows of all time. But then I thought my graphic design skills weren't up to the task of my ideal envisioned site, and I felt like I had nothing in particular to say about the show itself since I last watched it forever ago (I should do a rewatch sometime), so I put the idea (and therefore plans to sign up for the challenge) on hold for a bit. I finished working on a visual novel for a game jam entry in the meantime, and it really burned me out from writing fiction for a bit... so I took a look at the shrine challenge again. I was floating around a "Bloom into You"/Yagate kimi ni naru fanshrine idea, concerning how much Touko's older sister haunts the narrative, though I soon realized I had nothing to say again - and then I was thinking about aro/ace themes in the context of Love Bullet's cupids, and realized wait! I do have something to say, and a fanshrine idea at that too - and it's perfect for the challenge theme!

Future Plans

Hmm... I think I will continue working on, and maybe adding more essays, as the narrative continues to unfold in subsequent chapters. I won't be taking this site down anytime soon, unless my hosting provider goes kaput, but since this is a static site it's portable and I can just set up shop somewhere else. I might change up the layout, but for now my main priority is working on the essay content, not the design. Though I want to try not overrelying on inee's illustrations, instead replacing it with graphics I've drawn up myself (such as with vector graphics)... also, since the site guestbook is being hosted on an external, third-party site, I will probably make a "message archive" page in the inevitable case that the provider service goes down.

Site Info

This is a purely fanmade website, made by one person just for the fun of it without intention to profit. The illustrations used, and the copyright of LOVE BULLET belongs to the mangaka inee - no copyright infringement is intended by this website. Scans of artwork and manga were created by the Sancho Step scanlation team. Initial website layout was drafted in wwobble.org. The favicon is from the Twimoji project. The background tiles are from this codepen. All mistakes are my own.

This site was created for the "Ghost of You" Shrine Challenge - the challenge ran from October 2025 to January 2026. I suggest checking the page out and seeing what other participants have submitted to the challenge!
